It has become my daily routine that as soon as I wake up, I have to check my emails. Today, as soon as I woke up, logged into my gmail as damn!!! the first email was from Name.com Support advising me that my order number had been declined due to fraud detection. Wow, not a great start to the day at all
This was the domain I won on Blogsivy on the "Comment to Win" contest on the review about Number39.net. I immediately emailed the support enquiring for reasons and this is what they replied:
Quote:
The above order has been declined by our fraud department after reviewing the transaction and contact details associated with it carefully.
It was noted that the transaction was done on an Indian IP whilst the contact details are for Fiji Islands. Your order was declined by our fraud team because you provided Name.com with invalid contact details. This is a breach of our registration agreement as well as ICANN's registrar policy. If you feel that your transaction has been invalidated by mistake, do contact us as soon as possible.

I again contacted them telling them the reasons for the difference in the variables. I told them that the registration payment was done by my friend in India and I was on standby to edit the details as soon as the payment was done.
They replied that they had opened my account and advised me to change the default contact details. Furthermore, they refunded the transaction amount to Swastik and advised me to re-register the domain as they had put it up for re-registration. I finally edited my account, informed them about it and said that the registration payment will be done by an Indian IP while I will handle the renewal and technical aspects of it. They agreed on that, so I am just waiting for Swastik to re-register the domain for me.
Bad day for me, but one thing I came to realize. When we consider the above formalities, we come to realize that name.com takes fraud and security very seriously. In other words, we can be rest assured that our transactions with name.com would be very secure.
On this note, I've made up my mind to consider name.com as the registrar of choice.
